Lakadong Turmeric:

The Janita hills district of Meghalaya is the home of The World’s finest Turmeric variety Lakadong. It is called the best turmeric for its high Curcumin percentage in it. It is locally known as Shynrai or Shyrmit Lakadong in Khasi. The uniqueness comes with a high curcumin content of about 7-8% (compared to 2-3% in other Turmeric varieties) and volatile essential oil (dry) of about 3.6 - 4.8%. 

Process: Turmeric, harvested in 7 to 9 months between January- April. Humid weather along with 30-35° temperature for germination, 25-30° for tilling, and 20-25° temperature is ideal for rhizomes initiation. After harvesting, it is first boiled and then sun-dried. The sun-dried root is blended to get powder turmeric. 

Associated Benefits: Curcumin percentage in Lakadong Turmeric is 7-8% which is relatively higher than the other variety (2-5%). It is not only good for the health but used as a supplement too. The benefits associated with Turmeric are as follows:
